York Rise Village Map

As you may know, in September 2022, we, alongside Backs & Beyond, commissioned local artist, Chrissie Nicholls to produce a map of the local area. The idea was originally conceived by Truffles and funded through the generosity of York Rise's local businesses.

The map was incredibly well received, with many enquiring whether they could buy a copy of the image on high quality paper. With this in mind we have decided to create an exclusive, one time, limited edition Giclee print run of the map.

We estimate that an unframed A3 copy will cost £25, with a framed copy (you will be able to chose the frame and mount colour from a small selection) costing £45.

If you are interested in receiving a copy then please use the form at the bottom of this page to register your interest, as well as indicating whether you'd like a framed or unframed copy. This register of interest will only be open until Friday 30th September.

Tomorrow sees the start of Children's Mental Health Week – an initiative launched by children's mental health charity, @_place2be in 2015.

This year’s focus is “Know Yourself, Grow Yourself”.

This is to encourage children, young people and adults to embrace self-awareness and explore what it means to them, helping them grow and develop resilience to cope with what life throws at them.

At Moon, we have two events this week to support the mental health of the children in our community:

🌱 Sunday 9th February: Celebrate Spring at the Family Yoga Workshop for little yogis between 2 and 8 years old, with @marysheppardyoga

🧘 Sunday 9th February: Support your teens with the challenges of personal and school life with @yoga.charm.d yoga retreat

We also have fab two events later on in February/early March:

👪 Sunday 23rd February: Embrace the moment, with stories, movement and play with Dr Luci @luci.d_mind and Mindful Family Time

🩸 Sunday 2nd March: Empower your daughter with the knowledge of their body and their menstrual cycle with @whymothersmatter and Planning for Menarche

All events are subsidised by the Women Supporting Women Fund.

You can find more information on all these events, as well as more about the charity Place2Be via our bio.

A beautiful image from @tijanadraws that draws together the sense of Imbolc - the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox - which falls over this weekend.

We feel, see and smell the stirrings of Spring, the 'quickening' of the year, as the light slowly returns. It is the time of Brigid, the 'Goddess of healing, poetry and smithcraft... of fire, of the sun and of the hearth. She brings fertility to the land... and is closely connected to midwives and new-born babies'*.

Remembrance of these old Gods always ties us to the land, and our place in nature, in a way that what has followed rarely does. The simplicity is so appealing, in a world that feels increasingly complex (or perhaps I'm feeling my age 😆).

In all that we do at Moon, we try and tap into this simplicity, to strip back the layers and offer up treatments, experiences and spaces that focus on connectedness, with ourselves and with others, through touch, movement and sound.

We are fortunate to have a cohort of practitioners who offer their skills and guidance, with a wisdom and understanding that, although they have knowledge, it is the individual who is the expert on their own life, body, mind and soul.

So trust yourself, your intuition, your body and if you'd like a little support on your journey through life you can find it at Moon.

Enjoy the turning of the year and see you soon.

Anna

Love it that, on the eve of Imbolc, fire is at the heart of the "What's On" board. In Celtic communities and beyond, this time of year is traditionally a time to honour the Goddess Brigid. With the Christians, she became St Brigid and in 2023 Ireland created a bank holiday for her, to partner St Patrick - nice one Ireland ☘️🇮🇪 Among other things, Brigid is a fire Goddess 🔥, who brings fertility to the land (she's closely associated with midwives). Spring is coming... 😊 Find out more on what's on in the next couple of weeks, including our outdoor Imbolc celebration, via our bio.2 days ago
