What is Menstruality?

Menstruality* is the missing piece of the puzzle for women’s health. It will take you from chaos to calm and have profound effects on reducing PMS and PMDD symptoms, period pain and other menstrual health challenges, as well as a life-long, life-changing impact on everything from self confidence, relationships, work-life balance, to creativity, achieving goals and living the life you desire and deserve.

It allows you to reclaim your experience a woman - for yourself and for all women. By learning about the psycho-spiritual energies of the menstrual cycle and working closely with them, we can achieve a new harmonious relationship with our cycles and ourselves as women.

During the sessions we will look at all aspects of your current symptoms, along with your wider health and lifestyle. You will be asked to track your cycle daily while we are working together and bring your tracking diary to each session for analysis. I will advise and share tools that can help to provide symptom relief while also teaching you the foundations of Menstruality as your own personal self-care system.

We will also explore the three Maps of Menstruality, revisit your first period known as Menarche, look at the deeper psycho-spiritual meaning behind our menstrual cycles and explore how we can prepare for Peri, Menopause and Post-Menopause with this knowledge. The teachings will initiate you into your full authority and dignity. You’ll be able to better pace your energy, calm your nervous system and achieve a deep sense of belonging to Life itself.

Menstruality is both a pragmatic and everyday, while also transforming the way that you see and experience life as a whole.

* The term Menstruality came into being to describe the female life process in 2004 when New Zealand psychotherapist, Jane Catherine Severn, wrote an article Menstruality: the great feminine gestalt in the Gestalt Journal of Australia and New Zealand. She was concerned with the fact that we did not have a word to describe what she calls the 4 M’s—menarche, menstruation, menopause and the mature years. And without a word, the full power of this process could be easily ignored or dismissed. To remedy this she proposed the word Menstruality. To learn more about the wonderful Menstruality work of Jane Catherine's visit her website. You can also see a 2023 Insta Live discussion we had with Jane Catherine here.

Today is [Mother] Earth Day - thinking about the entire Earth and what we can do to ensure our survival on this planet can feel daunting - but here are some local initiatives that can support you to support the Earth.

๐ŸŒ @growing_green_london - set up by local Mamas - amongst other things their focus is rewilding our local schools, you can support them by donating or volunteering - they have a second-hand clothes sale fundraiser this Sunday, 27th April - join them.

๐ŸŒ @fair_well_london - tackle the plastic pollution crisis by removing plastic packaging from the final stage of the food distribution chain and solving the main problem with plastic-free shopping: inconvenience. They come to you, you just need to book and buy.

๐ŸŒ @heath_hands - supporting our beautiful Hampstead Heath, sustaining its biodiversity and protecting it for wildlife and humans to enjoy. You can volunteer with them as well as joining them for their frequent events.

๐ŸŒ @chetwyndroadcommunitygarden - a local community of growers, based at the top of Chetwynd Road, join them on 11th May for their open day to find out more.

๐ŸŒ @kentishtownlibraryofthings - borrow items, such as drills, carpet cleaners, projectors - you don't have to buy them - sharing the things you won't use often is a simple action all of us can take to live more sustainably - they're based at Kentish Town Library.

๐ŸŒ @kentishtownvegbox - all their produce is organic or naturally grown and sourced from small-scale farms as close to London as possible. Use them as a local alternative to the larger scale veg-box schemes.

๐ŸŒ @urban_forest_tribe - a local nature based community, focusing on inclusion, and a deeper bond with the natural world. Find out how your little ones can benefit from their offerings.

These are just a few of the local initiatives supporting our environment, support them and use them - helping the Earth starts at home.

A bank holiday weekend welcome to local mama, educator and breathwork practitioner, Kerry Miller.

Kerry and Christel Stanfield-Bruce are creating the space, next Sunday, for us to Breath, Soften and Surrender in a breathwork session - more details in bio.

Over to Kerry ๐Ÿ‘‡

Hi, Iโ€™m Kerry - a breathwork practitioner, single mum, and early years educator.

My healing journey began when I became a mother in 2014, and everything Iโ€™d been holding onto came to the surface. I could no longer ignore the pain and trauma I had been carrying for years.

Therapy, breathwork, dance, and movement became my way home to myself. Through the breath, I began to access parts of myself I didnโ€™t know how to reach before. I started to feel my grief, my rage, my joy. I began to feel truly alive again.

I trained in the Rebirthing style of breathwork, a modality known for its gentle yet profound approach using conscious connected breathing. This method honors each personโ€™s individual pace, allowing space for deep transformation without force or overwhelm. Iโ€™ve found that there is incredible strength in going gently - and I carry that philosophy into every session.

Breathwork became not just a practice, but a path - one that continues to guide me home to myself, again and again.

Now, I hold space for others on their own healing journeys, with deep respect for the courage it takes to turn inward.

I offer 1:1 sessions and group breathes, creating safe, compassionate spaces where people can soften, release, and reconnect with the truth of who they are.

Youโ€™ll often find me happiest by the sea with my girls, dancing freely, or around a campfire under the stars.

Happy Easter to everyone celebrating today.

A Spring festival of thanks for the Earth's gift of renewal, co-opted in recent centuries by Christianity with the resurrection of Jesus, the name is derived from ฤ’ostre or Ostara, the Goddess of Spring and the Dawn.

An ancient festival tied to both the Spring Equinox and the Celtic fires of Beltane (our local CofE Church had a bonfire and fireworks last night, a bit pagan if you ask me ๐Ÿ˜‰) to celebrate the renewal of life on Earth.

Have a celebratory day, whatever your beliefs, as you can't deny, we're all Earthlings ๐Ÿ˜Š
